As Build Your Own Website™, the Portal Manager, and the Strategic Partner Library began to be included in statewide educational progjects, we become aware of a new Ohio Department of Education intiative called Data Driven Decisions for Academic Achievement (D3A2). After meeting with the project managers and developers, WGTE determined that linking the D3A2 business tools into the Strategic Partner Library would enable Build Your Own Website™ users to employ a far greater number of resources in their online classroom and provide valuable feedback into the D3A2 Individual Student Assesment system.

Overview of

Data Driven Decisions for Academic Achievement (D3A2) is a long-term initiative of the Ohio Department of Education to create a K-20 longitudinal data system and associated products. It provides Ohio teachers with systematic access to valuable performance data and aligned educational content. Its aim is to help teachers identify and address their students' specific learning needs. D3A2 professional development materials are provided to help teachers become familiar with using data as part of instructional decision making.

After meeting with the D3A2 project managers and developers, the linking of D3A2 resources into the Strategic Partner Library (and by connection, Build Your Own Website™) was proposed and a model developed. Initial testing proved positive, though D3A2 was still in the early stages of development. Progress on D3A2 was slow at the time, however, and WGTE Public Media moved its attention to the development of an Arts Portal. At the time I resigned as Director of Web Services at WGTE (in order to move to Texas), no further action had taken place.
