Web Applications
Developing custom web applications has always been the central business of Artisan Technologies. In many cases, off-the-shelf products simply have too much downside for small and medium-sized businesses and organizations. They can be too expensive or too complex. But worse than either of these is that they often force an organization to to conform to the software instead of having the software conform to the organization's structure, processes, and strategies.
Artisan web applications generally follow the traditional structure of user services, business services and data services. In the past, development was done primarily in ASP/.NET and MSSQL, but has moved toward more open source solutions in recent years. Utlizing responsive design techniques has also made mobile access and delivery an additional benefit. The Artisan Producer content management system, continuously developed and improved over 15 years, provides an easy plug-in foundation for many projects. In many cases, however, design and development is entirely original.
It is my belief that the most overlooked key to successful application development happens before a single line of code is ever written. Effective communication, along with a strong understanding of business processes, are critical to the success of custom development projects. When you are able to step into the shoes of the client, and see the world through their eyes, you are well on your way to a building a successful application. Years of experience, a solid educational foundation, and a naturally insatiable curiosity have given me the tools necessary to do just that.
